What is it?
Invisible orthodontics uses a series of custom transparent aligners to progressively move teeth to their ideal position. Each aligner is changed every 1-2 weeks and applies controlled forces on the teeth, just like traditional braces but without visible metal.
It is a cosmetic alternative to braces that has proven to be equally effective for most cases: crowding, gaps between teeth, open bite, crossbite and overbite. Very complex cases (multiple extractions, orthognathic surgery) may still need braces.
Unlike braces, aligners are removable. This means you can eat anything, brush normally and remove them for specific situations. The trade-off: you must wear them at least 22 hours a day for the treatment to progress. If you remove them too much, it doesn't work.
How is the process?
- 1
Orthodontic study
Photographs, X-rays and 3D intraoral scanning are performed. The orthodontist evaluates the complexity of the case and the viability with aligners.
- 2
Digital treatment plan
The entire treatment is digitally designed, aligner by aligner. You can see a 3D simulation of the final result before starting.
- 3
Aligner fabrication
All aligners are manufactured at once (between 20 and 50 depending on the case). They are delivered to the patient in batches.
- 4
Daily wear and changes
You wear each aligner 22+ hours a day for 1-2 weeks. You change to the next one and so on. You only remove them to eat and brush your teeth.
- 5
Periodic reviews
Every 6-8 weeks the orthodontist reviews progression, adjusts if necessary and delivers the next aligners.
- 6
Post-treatment retention
After completion, retainers (transparent or fixed) are provided to maintain the result long-term. Worn mainly at night.
How long does it take?
Average treatment duration is 12-24 months depending on complexity. Simple cases (small cosmetic corrections) can be completed in 6-9 months. Complex cases may require 24-30 months. Price varies according to that complexity, and that's exactly what our AI calculator analyzes when it sees your smile.
What is included
- Complete study (photos, X-rays, 3D scan)
- Digital treatment plan with simulation
- All necessary aligners (20-50 units)
- Reviews every 6-8 weeks throughout the treatment
- Final refinements if needed
- Set of retainers to maintain the result
What is NOT included
- Previous treatments (cavities, root canals, cleaning)
- Teeth whitening (recommended at the end)
- Replacement of aligners lost through carelessness
Expected results
Results are seen progressively: at 3 months there are already visible changes, at 6-12 months the difference is notable, and at the end of the treatment the teeth are in their ideal position. Long-term stability depends on correct retainer use: without them, teeth tend to return to their original position (relapse).
Aftercare
- Wear retainers as instructed by the orthodontist (usually nightly, for life)
- Clean aligners and retainers with soft brush and warm water (never hot)
- Brush and floss before placing aligner back
- Attend scheduled reviews
- No hot or sugary drinks with aligner on
Frequently asked questions
How much does invisible orthodontics cost?
The price depends a lot on the complexity of your case: crowding, crossbite, number of aligners needed, estimated treatment duration. To know exactly how much you would pay, upload a photo to our AI calculator — it analyzes your smile and shows you a personalized price range in 30 seconds. Free, no commitment.
Are they as effective as braces?
For most cases yes. Invisible orthodontics has proven equally effective for crowding, gaps, crossbite, open bite and overbite. In extremely complex cases braces may be preferable, but today more than 80% of patients are treatable with aligners.
How long do treatments last?
12-24 months on average. Simple cases: 6-9 months. Complex cases: 24-30 months. The exact duration is defined by the orthodontist based on your initial diagnosis.
How many hours a day do I have to wear them?
22 hours a day minimum. You only remove them to eat and brush your teeth. If you wear them less time, treatment slows down or doesn't work and may require additional refinements.
Do aligners hurt?
There is mild discomfort the first 2-3 days with each new aligner (pressure on the teeth being moved). It subsides on its own and many people barely notice it. It does not cause sharp pain like braces occasionally can.
Can I eat with aligners on?
No. Aligners are removed to eat. If worn while eating they can stain, deform or break. Only cold sugar-free drinks (water) are allowed with them on.
